Mindfulness: Life’s Building Blocks

Taking care of the most essential part of us

Why a consistent meditation practice?

Everything we do in life depends on our mental processes. Whether we’re playing a sport, working our professions, speaking with our peers, trying to sleep at night, or just seeking more happiness, these constructs all hinge on our mental state. The mind is inseparable from everything we do; it is needed, and utilized throughout the totality of our actions.

Meditation is a mental workout of sorts. It can enhance our concentration and expand our attention; it can sharpen our minds and clear our mental space, and it can enable us to live with less stress and more contentment.

When I started to practice meditation, everything in my life gradually improved. My studies became easier to comprehend, my relationships started to contain more depth and maybe most important is for the first time I didn’t feel stressed or bored. I learned what real satiation and contentment felt like.

Taking time to practice meditation is learning to give our minds a rest. We allow ourselves to have moments each day to be with ourselves and only ourselves. In these moments there is no need to produce, achieve, or improve; there is no right or wrong, good or bad, and no objective we are working toward. It is maybe the only thing we will do that doesn’t have us striving toward a goal and is without evaluation. And when we practice each day – no matter for how long – we set the intention to take care of our minds. This could be the greatest gift we may ever give to ourselves.
