Dudes, let’s face it. We lose our hair. It’s in our blood. But some of us lose ours much faster than others, and that is due to a few different factors. One is genes, no doubt, but another major factor is stress and anxiety. Ever seen those photos of presidents before and after their terms?

The question is: If you learn to manage your stress and anxiety, can you regain your hair? Thankfully, the answer is yes.

Ok. Let’s get scientific for a second. Hair loss due to stress occurs in four main ways:

Telogen effluvium: In telogen effluvium, stress can move your hair follicles into a resting phase. After some time in this phase, the affected hair may begin to fall out while simply combing or washing your hair.

Trichotillomania: You know in the movies when you see someone so stressed that they legit pull their hair out….well that’s called Trichotillomania. Hair pulling due to negative emotions or feelings.

Alopecia areata: A few different factors are believed to cause Alopecia areata. This is when your immune system causes hair loss by attacking hair follicles.

Inflammation: Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is an enzyme that causes hair loss by attacking hair follicles and causing them to become inflamed.

So what is the silver lining in all of this? Well, hair loss due to stress and anxiety can be reversed!
