Storms of Emotion
Dealing With The Weather of The Mind

Throughout the day we feel a plethora of emotions; it’s human nature to have and feel emotions. Though, akin to the arriving and passing of a storm, our emotions also come and go. We may feel joy or despair for a period of time but these emotions don’t need to define us, as eventually they will pass and morph into new sensations.
A sky isn’t defined by the storms that pass through, rather as the body that houses the multitude of ever-changing weather.
Sometimes emotions can come as a torrential downpour, wreaking havoc on our internal landscape, where other times they come as gentle rain, only leaving shallow puddles in their wake. Regardless, temporary emotions don’t need to define permanent existence.
Meditation can enable us to become aware of the presence and fleeting nature of these emotions. With these realizations, we hone a capacity to manage a wider spectrums of sensations by learning to not react from or attach ourselves to their presence. And the more consistently we practice, not only do we grow our ability to deal with storms when they arise, but we also equip ourselves with the proper tools to prepare for all weather of the mind.
