Most people know that meditation is good for them but they may not know where, when, or how to develop a consistent practice…so we started MeditationWorks! Our live streaming meditation program is like providing every single individual at your company with an experienced and personal mindfulness teacher! We help you and your team achieve stronger focus and better overall wellness by supplying your brains with a steady and consistent diet of the most effective stress management tool available: meditation!

We offer corporate (and non-corporate) programs ranging from one time events, to our 10-Week Introductory Foundations Program, to our more dynamic and creative ongoing program. Simply put, we make it as easy as possible for you to implement meditation at your company!

Our Story

Our story started with a mother, a son, and their incredible passion for mindfulness. By the spring of 2015, Jake Leider, a recent college graduate, was struggling with his first “real” job. Stressed-out and unable to sleep, he took his mom’s advice and tried meditation. Phone apps, YouTube videos, subscriptions, and some eye-opening sessions at a nearby meditation center. But none of it worked! The apps were too distracting, the home had familiar distractions, and the center was inconvenient and too expensive for him to attend consistently. He gave up.

Our story started with a mother, a son, and their incredible passion for mindfulness. By the spring of 2015, a recent college graduate was struggling with his first “real” job. At about the same time, his Mom Joanne Leider, stepped into the shower after her daily yoga class contemplating a question the teacher had presented that very morning: “Why doesn’t anyone meditate consistently?” She knew the benefits of meditation firsthand. She also knew the barriers far too well. Everyone was so stressed out and needed meditation more than ever. But how do you get someone to do it consistently? After considering this in the shower, she stepped out with an idea:

After considering this in the shower, she stepped out with an idea:

“A beautiful mobile meditation room that could be brought directly to work and schools.”

So people everywhere could not only just take a break, but take a better, healthier, more productive break. Not to eat, smoke, or scroll through their phones, but to meditate. And so, a mobile meditation studio was created and MeditationWorks was born.

Over many years of running the mobile studio, we discovered an even more efficient way for companies to implement consistent meditation within workplaces…live streaming video meditations. Now, we provide high-quality workplace meditation programs to companies and individuals all across the country.

Joanne Leider is a registered nurse and is a Co-Founder of MeditationWorks. She has been married 27 years to Jeff, a surgeon, and is a mom to Jake, Founder of MeditationWorks, and Joey, a Georgetown University medical student. She has been practicing yoga and mindfulness daily for over 17 years and loves fitness, healthy food, rescue dogs and The Heidelberg Project.

Gretchen advises MeditationWorks because she believes in the benefits that mindfulness meditation brings to employees in corporations. She, and her husband Mark, moved from San Francisco to Detroit in 2010 to be closer to their parents and to give their two sons a “sturdy” Midwestern upbringing. Gretchen brings to MeditationWorks many years of experience starting and building companies as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist.
